How to Use in Offerings
- Place fresh or dried basil on Oxalá's altar alongside their traditional offerings: white corn, white rice, white wine
- Light a candle in Oxalá's color (white) and place the herb nearby as an offering
- Best offered on Friday, Oxalá's sacred day
Ritual Instructions
- Begin by greeting Oxalá: "Êpa Babá!"
- Prepare a clean space and place basil in a white or white cloth
- Light incense or the herb itself (if safe to burn) and allow the smoke to cleanse the space
- State your intention clearly, asking for Oxalá's guidance in matters of creation
- Thank Oxalá for their presence and leave the offering for 8 hours or days
